Being In The Moment!

When the opportunity came from a delightful group of girlfriends to join them on a 4 day yoga retreat in the Berkshires, I was thrilled!

Exercise, solitude and rejuvenating hours of hiking was only the beginning. The natural surroundings of the hike and the encouragement from guides to be silent and embrace your senses. We all feel the rush of the clock, so to actually listen, smell and cherish the wonders of nature was meditative on it’s own. Days of mindfulness pass with thoughtful insight.

Meditation. This took some patience and dedication. Noticing what is our true peace and being able to file thoughts and find solutions. The most helpful part of this was understanding that meditation does not require the position of crossed legs hands resting on knees with index and thumb circled. Meditation can take only a very few minutes of being honed into your inner peace….anywhere, anytime.

Yoga. This is how to really appreciate how transformative a daily practise can be. It brought a true sense of stillness during more restorative classes but certainly awakened strength during more vigorous vinyasa’s. These are always my favourites.

A cooking class with Chef Jeremy had us all entertained. The delicious options for very healthy fare were a welcome bonus as everything he shared had such interesting flavour.

Silent breakfast created laughter amongst our group, as our lives are used to noise. We decided that were best to take our meals outside to respect the silence.

Healthy living, wholesome meals and silent breakfast. We marvel at the power of 4 days showing up to a mat!
