Having recently returned from a buying trip in Las Vegas, I am very excited to share some basic facts and beautiful selections with you!
Purchasing carpet can be a very daunting task. There are endless possibilities.
Not only beauty, but performance, durability, value and sustainability help make the right carpet choice for your home. Todays carpets are environmentally friendly, stain and fade resistant and designed to withstand the heaviest of traffic.
The majority of carpet contains one of 6 fibres: nylon, polypropylene, acrylic, polyester, wool or cotton. Each fibre has strengths and weaknesses that must be recognized and influences how it should be used and constructed.
Costs can vary considerably, depending on not only the fibre but how it has been processed and constructed.
Carpet provides warmth and comfort. In colder climates or seasons it provides thermal resistance. Creating a comfortable place to sit or play, it gives a room an overall warm feeling.
Big screen TV’s, computers, speaker phones and sound systems make our rooms noisy. Carpet absorbs these sounds, and even more so when a good under cushion pad is used. It also works as a sound barrier between floors by helping block sound transmission to rooms below. Carpet on stairs will help mask the sounds of foot traffic.
